Sadique Hossain, President

Sadique Hossain earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1997 and a master's degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University in 2000. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Sadique began his professional career in Bangladesh as a Junior Engineer at the Surface Water Modeling Center (SWMC). He currently serves as a Senior Transportation Engineer at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Prior to joining Caltrans, he worked for Stantec Consulting, the Keith Companies, and the Louis Berger Group.
Outside of work, Sadique enjoys traveling, scouting, and watching sports. He is married to Aysha Habib (Rupali), who is also a Senior Transportation Engineer at Caltrans. Together, they are proud parents of two sons, Zarif and Zaheen.
Dr. Zainul Abedin, President Elect

Dr. Zainul Abedin, a distinguished environmental consultant and the founder of Environmental Engineering, Inc. located in Glendale, California, has carved a niche for himself through his extensive expertise and commitment to sustainable practices.
Dr. Abedin’s academic credentials are impressive and showcase a lifelong dedication to civil and environmental engineering. He earned a Ph.D. in Civil from Kensington University in 1993, following a MS in Environmental Engg from Washington State University in 1988. His academic journey began with a BEng degree in Ag Engg from Punjab Agricultural University in India, enriched by a MEng in Civil from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a MSc in Water Resources from the University of Alberta. This diverse educational background equips him with a multi-faceted understanding of environment with innovative solutions.
Since founding Environmental Engineering, Inc. in 1989, Dr. Abedin has served as its CEO and Chief Consultant, leading a team that specializes in civil and environmental construction and remediation. Dr. Abedin is deeply committed to community service. His services at Glendale Sunrise Rotary Club, BD Assoc of CA, AABEA, Bijoy Bohor etc. demonstrate his dedication to community and multicultural understanding. His active participation in the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) highlights his passion for promoting cultural heritage and community solidarity among Bangladeshis in the diaspora.
His tenure as the Chairman of the Regulatory Fairness Board for the U.S. Small Business Administration, appointed by the Bush Administration, further illustrates his commitment to supporting small businesses and advocating for fair regulatory practices.
Lamisha Sultana, General Secretary

Lamisha Sultana graduated from California State University Fullerton with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. She is a Hardware Engineer working in the Aerospace & Defense Industry. Her areas of expertise include Digital Electronics and troubleshooting hardware systems. She has been involved with STEM for over a decade and during her college years she mentored young children, especially girls, to inspire them. Her undergraduate research was on machine learning, and her senior project was on wireless communication systems. She is the daughter of Masud Ahmed & Najneen Ahmed. She loves dancing and participates actively in many cultural events among the Bangladeshi Community in Los Angeles.
Saimon Islam, Treasurer

Saimon Islam has a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) respectively. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California and has been working as a Senior Utilities Engineer (Specialist) at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) since 2019. Before joining the Commission, he was a Maintenance and Reliability Engineer at Niagara Bottling in Diamond Bar, CA. From 2009 to 2014, he held positions at Bata Shoe Company and Mobil Jamuna Lubricants in Bangladesh, where he gained valuable experience in the industry. His specialties include project engineering, management and maintenance. In his free time, he enjoys movies, sports, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Tanzlia Lutfor, a Transportation Engineer at CalTrans, and their beloved daughter.
Iffat Sharmin Chowdhury, EC Member

Iffat Sharmin Chowdhury is working as Sr. Software Developer Engineer in Environmental System Research Institute (ESRI) in redlands. Before joining esri, she finished her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016. She is passionate about solving complex problems and write algorithms to have innovative solutions related to maps. In the software industry, she applies that expertise to design efficient systems, writing clean code, and tackling real life challenges. She finished her undergrad from University of Dhaka in Computer Science and Engineering. But beyond her professional life, she is learning dance and very passionate about it. Her hobbies are to travel and do painting which balances her technical endeavor and give her a different perspective of innovation. In her personal life, she is a mother of two girls and two cats. She also runs some small businesses.
Sunny Kabir, EC Member

Sunny Kabir holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Major) & Computer science (Minor) from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. Completed his Executive MBA from Chapman university emphasis on leadership and M&A. Started his career from southern California Edison as a generation engineer. Eventually moved to the private sector as an application engineer for a software company in Irvine California. Currently, he is a global director of ELIP at ABB, which is Switzerland based company. Responsible for a team of 48 people from field application engineers, R&D developers, account managers, technical specialists. Happily married with 2 children reside in North Fontana. Wife currently works for JPL-NASA as a cyber security analyst. As a family, very passionate about travelling the world and trying different cuisines. Always have a huge tick for getting involved in volunteering work to help the less fortunate and make the world a better place to live.
Md Amanullah Kabir, Central Representative-SCC Chapter

Md Amanullah Kabir is a Registered Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California. Currently he is working as a Transportation Engineer in California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District-07, Los Angeles. Before joining Caltrans, Aman worked as a Transportation Design Engineer at the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), a Design Engineer at Lane County Government Department of Public Works in Eugene, Oregon, and as a Civil Project Engineer consultant at Dynamic Construction Company in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to come in USA Aman was serving as a faculty member in several universities in Bangladesh. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University, Texas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology in Khulna, Bangladesh. Aman enjoys spending his spare time with family, especially with his wife, Refaya, and their newborn daughter, Arishba. In his free time, he helps engineers from various parts of USA and Canada to prepare for Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and Professional Engineering (PE) examination.
Md Tausif Murshed, EC Member

Md Tausif Murshed is is an Executive Member of AABEA Southern California chapter (2025-26 term). He is a Transportation Engineer (Civil) at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), currently serving in the Design division of District 7, which encompasses Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Prior to his current position, Mr. Murshed worked in the Traffic Design division of Caltrans District 5, where he developed traffic handling plans and designed pavement delineation plans for projects.
Academically, Mr. Murshed holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
In addition to his professional and academic pursuits, Mr. Murshed is actively involved in the Professional Engineers in California Government (PECG) organization and currently serves as the Secretary for the Los Angeles Section.
Mr. Murshed also contributes to academia as a Lecturer at California State University, Long Beach, where he shares his expertise in civil engineering with students.
Reaj Ahmed, EC Member

Reaj Ahmed is a seasoned manufacturing leader with over 15 years of experience solving intricate manufacturing challenges, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving process and technology innovation. He earned a Master’s in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Currently as a Senior Engineer at SpaceX, Reaj contributes to cutting-edge technologies that propel the American space program forward, with the ultimate vision of supporting human life on Mars. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is passionate about health and fitness, investing, and a good gossip session. In his downtime, Reaj enjoys chasing his 7 year old and torturing him to finish his homework or take electronics device away from him. Reaj also loves helping others, exploring the world and tackling CrossFit workouts.
Dr. Shams Tanvir, EC Member

Dr. Shams Tanvir is an Executive Member of the AABEA Southern California chapter (2025-26 term). Professionally, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Management (CECEM) at California State University, Long Beach. Previously, he was an assistant professor at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His research aims to develop and characterize transportation technologies that minimize energy consumption and emissions while enhancing mobility efficiency and equity. Dr. Tanvir is a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) committee member on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service, and Transportation Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation. He chairs the Sustainable Transportation committee at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has served as a Principal Investigator in projects sponsored by the US Department of Transportation, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the US Department of Education, and the California Department of Transportation. Dr. Tanvir received his Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering from North Carolina State University. He received a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from BUET. Dr. Tanvir holds a Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure in Civil Engineering.
